Hello and welcome! This is the first ever email newsletter from Landlocked Music. Sure to be a collectors' item someday, so be sure to hermetically seal this away in your virtual scrapbook to ebay years from now. Onto the business at hand: --------------------------------- We have new releases! Available today, March 14th, onward: Stephin Merritt - 'Showtunes' - (The man behind the Magnetic Fields, the 6ths, Future Bible Heroes and the Gothic Archies brings you a CD of yes, SHOWTUNES! Great cover art.) Devo 2.0 - (Devo songs reconceptualized by Devo as a children's album with children playing and singing the songs. We kid you not! includes CD and DVD.) Sonic Youth - 'EP' - (Their debut EP, recorded in 1981 at Radio City Music Hall and originally released on Glenn Branca's Neutral label! The reissue includes the self-titled debut record plus live material from '81 and a track from a previously unheard studio session.) Ciccone Youth - 'the Whitey Album' - (Reissue of SY's 7th album. It originated as a joke to one day cover the Beatles' White Album but somehow morphed into a twisted beatbox/sampler experiment masquerading as a tribute to Madonna.) Hard-Fi - 'Stars of CCTV' - (the latest of the NME hype bands. their debut single Cash Machine was pretty good. they've already had the #1 album in the UK and were nominated for the Mercury Prize) Heartworn Highways OST - (In 1975, the film Heartworn Highways documented the emerging singer-songwriter scene in Nashville and Austin, capturing intimate performances by artists like Steve Earle and Rodney Crowell while they were still struggling to be heard. 30 years later, they've restored these now historic recordings to their original, unedited length and are making them available for the first time ever, in all of their ragged, whiskey-soaked glory.) --------------------------------- We also have still fresh CDs from Neko Case, Mogwai, Cat Power, Stereolab, Ray Davies (the Kinks), David Gilmour (Pink Floyd), I Love You But I've Chosen Darkness, Belle & Sebastian, Destroyer, Beth Orton, Glenn Kotche, Art Brut, Corsano/Flaherty and much much more! --------------------------------- Did we mention that we also have swanky t-shirts for sale with our lovely logo? We do. They're navy blue non-sweatshop American Apparel and are going quick! Only $15 or free with a $50 purchase for a limited time only. --------------------------------- and we also have real live music in our store as well. check out some of the upcoming performances: Friday, March 24th @ 8pm - $4 @ Landlocked Music Thanksgiving A John Henry Memorial the Watery Graves of Portland Privacy more info on all these bands at http://www.marriagerecs.com/ Tuesday March 28th @ 8pm - $5 @ Landlocked Music Gongtopia Deep Sleep Sound System So you think those old metal drummers with their big ass gong behind their kit are too cool? and the dude with the TWO gongs is the be all end all, eh? well then you need to witness the return of Michael Bettine's Gongtopia to Bloomington. last year he impressed a full house to the warmth of his 40+ gongs, from tiny gamelan hand gongs to the giant killers... don't miss him again. more info here: http://homepage.mac.com/mbettine/ Wednesday, April 5th @ 8pm @ Waldron Arts Center (co-sponsored by Landlocked and WIUX student radio) Scout Niblett Liz Janes & Create!
